SNAC Call for applications for large scale allocations effective January 1, 2012 DEADLINE October 24 at 3PM

This call regards applications for large scale allocations effective January 1, 2012. DEADLINE October 24 at 3PM

The Swedish National Infrastructure for Computing (SNIC), under the
Swedish Research Council, has been given the task of coordinating
and developing high end computing capacity for Swedish research.
The SNIC computer resources are hosted by the member centra.

 How to apply

Before submitting your application please read the detailed instructions
available at http://www.snic.vr.se/apply-for-resources. Please,check
these carefully.

Please, note that there are new clusters available for SNAC users in this round:

* A new cluster, Nordic HPC, placed in Iceland that will be available from 120101
* A new cluster, Abisko, at HPC2N in UmeƄ that will be available from 120101
* A new cluster, Tintin, at UPPMAX in Uppsala that will be available from 120201
* A new cluster, Glenn, at C3SE in Gothenburg that will become available in Q1 2012
* A new cluster, Alarik, at Lunarc in Lund that will be available from 120201

Please, also note that:

* Akka at HPC2N will only be awarded for six months in this round, since it will be decommissioned 120630
* Ferlin at PDC is no longer available

The on-line proposal system represents unified application forms for all
national HPC resources and it is located at
http://www.snic.vr.se/apply-for-resources/large-scale-applications

The national application procedure for HPC resources allows for
coordinated review of proposals, optimized use of the available
resources, as well as a unified application procedure. Note that
resources can be requested at one or more centres in the same application.

Proposed projects will be reviewed by the Swedish National Allocations
Committee (SNAC), which is responsible to SNIC.
The proposals will be evaluated from both a technical and a scientific
perspective.

SNAC will issue calls for proposals regarding large scale allocations
every 6 months.
The present call regards applications for allocations effective
January 1, 2012.
Applications for small and medium scale allocations can be submitted at
any time to the participating centres using a common format.

Deadline
The deadline for SNAC proposal submission is October 24 2011, at 3 PM.

At that time, all access to the on-line application system will be
closed. Incomplete or late proposals will be discarded.
